This might be controversial but even living in Wisconsin, I don’t pack away my denim shorts in Winter! Wear them all year round by layering tights underneath, just as you would with a skirt. This creates a fun and unexpected base to create endless outfits, whether it’s for work or weekend. Here are 4 ideas to get you started…
The Base
DENIM SHORTS
And if you’re in the market for a new pair of denim shorts, I’m wearing the Agolde Parker Long style which I’ve had for a couple years now and wear constantly. True to size, not too short or tight at the waist, and wash well. Click here for a range of style options.
COLORED TIGHTS
I own these in 6 colors, wear them constantly, and none have torn or ripped. It’s some kind of witchcraft but I’m here for it. They vary in price but are under $10 most of the time (mind. blown) Click here for all 23 color options and I found the sizing chart to be accurate.
1. Blazer & Loafers
I love this for a work from home look or choose denim shorts without the holes for a casual Friday in the office. I’d also wear this for a weekend lunch or change out the shoes for heels for a date night.
Tip: if your blazer is longer like mine, tuck in the top. See this post for a roundup of beautiful Spring Blazers for work and everyday casual.

2. Sweater & Drivers
I did a slight front tuck on my sweater to give the outfit proportion but you can always keep it open too! The necklace just adds a bit of flair and personality to match the tights under shorts vibe. Wear this as an everyday look! Whether it’s chasing after kids, running errands, or working from home, this outfit is easy to put together and super comfortable.

3. Vest, Button Down, And Sneakers
A vest is another piece I get a lot of wear not only in these transitional months but all year round. See this post for a roundup of favorite styles for Spring. Wear it on it’s own on warmer days but when it’s still cool outside layer something underneath – I did a button down but could also be a t-shirt, blouse, or whatever you have. The sneakers bring this into everyday casual territory.

4. Blouse And Sandals
If you’re not a fan of tucking in your tops grab a blouse that’s not too long (or cropped!) so you can keep it open. I then layered in playful hoop earrings and stacked mixed metal bracelets to match the edgy vibe of the tights under shorts look.
