outfit links, sizing & codes right here
Don’t look to me for a “pack for a month in a carry on” edit but I also don’t like to overpack either. So when we headed to Oahu last week with both kids in tow for Spring Break, I was super intentional about what made the cut into the suitcases. Take a peek below…& hopefully this will make getting ready for your beach vacation a little bit easier.

~ quick links to everything mentioned below & in my suitcase right here & see everything I wore on our trip in this post
Clothing, Bags, Shoes & Accessories
- Travel outfits: I need comfortable but still pulled together to feel like myself so Varley is a go to. These pants, this sweatshirt & then packed these shorts in my carry on to swap out when we arrive. I take an xs in all, code HELLOVARLEY
- Glasses & Sunglasses. organized in this travel case. My warby parker glasses (also own & love these & these), this color is gorgeous in person (code HELLOVARLEY), these are so fun but still very wearable (code CLAIRE15) and this style has been a favorite for years
- The Shoes lineup ~ travel sneakers, classic yet playful jelly fisherman sandal, better than basic slides for day & night, waterproof flip flops that I don’t have to worry about getting messy at the pool/beach, the most comfortable running shoe I’ve ever owned (& Oprah agrees), the elevated Margaux buckle style I wore almost every day
- The Bags: Could not love this travel tote more, the packable family beach bag, the daily workhorse tote & and a fun small bag for dinner
- Everyday jewelry. This Sea Seeker sand dollar necklace & bracelet go with everything and add that extra little touch, code LATELY20, this Electric Picks beauty, a Bauble Bar beaded bracelet set to mix & match & the studs I only take off to sleep
- Statement jewelry: to add that extra little something special. this smaller & this larger beaded necklace. This new J.Crew style is gorgeous too
- Everyday tees. To pair with anything from denim or knit shorts to skirts for a casual dinner. This is a runaway bestseller so good I packed it twice (in red & blue, code SEEYOUSOON, once per email) & this has a similar fit too. And a stripe KULE tee is a classic, code SPRINGREADY. I wear my regular size small in all.
- Cute tops to pair with the jean shorts or skirts ~ can’t get enough of this Sezane option & don’t forget the Marine Layer top that matches the bestselling skirt for an easy set (I sized down to an xs in both)
- Low key, casual dinner outfit formulas: one and done dresses ~ here, here code YOUROCK & here ~ or a tee with a fun skirt (this is a massive bestseller, size down to xs ~ also packed this & this) & elevated sandals, I wore these almost every night (code HELLOMARGAUX on a first order & way more comfortable than the wrap style)
- Denim Shorts: I fell hard for this Citizens of Humanity high waist/just right length style, this Agolde Parker style is still a classic, I sized up for an easier fit.
- Cotton Stripe Shorts & Top shorts for early mornings & can also be worn as a coverup ~ & a long sleeve top for day lounging, cool nights, & I like to tie it around my waist when I’m wearing leggings to the gym. wear my regular size small in both, code SUNSHINEAWAITS (first order)
- Tennis Skirt for early mornings, beach walks & an easy swim coverup, fits true to size
- The $50 throw on & go dress, I wear it A LOT. Also this one, code YOUROCK
- One Piece Swimsuits that make me feel comfortable & confident. See the full breakdown in this post but here are quick links: if I could only pick one it would be this, this & this would be a close second, this for a deeper cut, I even wore this one as a top with this skirt ~ Code SUNSHINEAWAITS for first orders at Minnow, LATELY10 at Albion
- Coverups. This is so sweet (sized down to xs), will also wear this as a throw on & go dress, & the cotton stripe shorts & tennis skirt mentioned above are pieces that do double duty as a coverup
- A terry style dress can cover a lot of ground ~ for early mornings, swim coverup, day outings. This is a runaway favorite, I wear my regular size small. Code SPRINGREADY, ends 4/10
- Hats: The chino sport polo hat is a classic & comes in so many fun colors. Then this Janessa Leone hat is a splurge but LOVE that the brim stays when you fold it up which is great when I’m watching the kids.
- Underwear: EBY high waisted styles is pretty much all I wear, the thong for everyday and the brief for under flowy dresses & skirts. Pepper bra, always & the best strapless I’ve ever owned
- Rain Jacket. Not for every trip but we definitely needed one on this time! This one is so good & VERY worth it, code HELLOVARLEY, I wear an xs
- $50 Cotton Stripe Sweater For cool nights & aggressive air conditioning …and I like to throw in an easy sweatshirt too
- Workout Gear: Try to sneak in a few sessions while we’re away with my favorite leggings, the workout top that flooded my DM’s, the best running shoes I’ve ever owned & I like to tie the knit long sleeve (mentioned above) around my waist with leggings
- Cute pajamas feel special and fun for vacation, especially when we’re sleeping in one big room together. These are now on sale for under $50, these are always a favorite, & I could not love this new to me brand more (I sized down one)
Essentials & Toiletries
- Toiletries I don’t leave home without. My ride or die OneSkin body lotion, lip mask I even use on the kids & Vintner’s Daughter Ultimate set. See this post for how I transformed my skin in my 40’s
- Self Tanner: Coco & Eve in Medium (code CLAIRELATELY15) on my body the day before we leave & Salty Face Tanning Water in Light/Medium (code LATELY10) on my face which I bring along with me and repeat every few days for a perfectly warm glow. .
- My morning routine even on vacation ~ ZIIP Halo (code LATELYZIIP) AG1 travel packs with a few drops of their Vit D3/K2 first thing after waking, LMNT salt packet in my morning water bottle (I like the raspberry) & if you pack any medications this pill box organizer is adorable
- little things that keep my sanity with two kids in tow ~ hanging toiletry bag (in a cute stripe!) to keep everything for the kids at reach but off the bathroom counter, this lay flat organizer for my toiletries (I have the large), a laundry hamper is a life saver & this folds up so easily, luggage scale, wet/dry bags are a must, adore this steamer which lasts longer than you’d think & is WAY easier than the hotel room iron, noise cancelling earbuds when I need a minute of peace
- Sunscreen: I have very sensitive skin and Dune Suncare is a favorite! The body gel glides on easily & their sheer Mineral Melt is the only face sunscreen that doesn’t irritate my eyes (even after hopping into the pool with the kids!)
