My 20 Minute Workout Routine (And The Essentials!)

I’ll be honest, I was in a really good workout routine for a while then last month gave me a run for my money and I got it in a total of zero times. So today is a new day, I’m back at it, making me a priority again.

The Routine

Shorter sessions focusing on increased muscle strength is the name of the game! After years of hour long, high intensity sessions that almost felt like I was punishing myself, I now do a simple 10 minutes of walking/running then a 10 minute peloton strength class. On Saturday’s I switch it up and do a 20 minute bike ride on the Peloton.

And since my husband leaves pretty quickly after the kids get up, I am up at 5 getting it done before mom duties take over. I lay out my workout clothes the night before to hopefully not wake anyone up, drink AG1 with Vitamin D drops and lemon juice and then chug 2 scoops of Fiber with Collagen with 8oz of water. Then I fill up my water bottle and add this packet to drink while working out.

Then after I’m finished I throw on a sweatshirt, grab a coffee, and set a timer for 5 minutes and free write at the computer. I read about “morning pages” in the Artists Way years ago and it really does help to connect to myself! Sometimes whats comes out completely surprises me and other times I’m writing just to get the time done but either way, I feel more present and connected to myself afterwards.

This brand (seen here and here) makes the most beautiful and supportive SPORTS BRAS. I also wear these TOPS to match my leggings but I do wish they had pads inside.

YOGA MATHere is the newer version of mine and have heard good things about this one for an under-$50 option.

RUNNING SHOES – I strained my achilles while training for a marathon out of college and was recommended to wear these for support with these added inside. So good I have never felt the need to switch.

SOCKS – the only ones I own, they stay put and no blisters

SWEATSHIRTSThis Sunday Crew and this buttery soft option are my favorite sweatshirts to throw on after a workout to free write and then get the kids ready for school. I also have my eye on this brand to try!

The APPLE WATCH BAND that works for everyday and workouts. Color – alabaster

BOSE EAR BUDS – after my second pair of Apple Ear Buds broke I switched to these and am blown away by the sound and fit.

WATER BOTTLE – that does. not. spill – I also add one of these to it every morning.

FREE WEIGHTS – I have these but have heard great things about these too, and these come with a stand.

HAIR TIESthese (I use clear in size tiny) and these are favorites to prevent breakage for my thin hair.

AMAZON EARRINGS – it’s nice to have a little something sparkly, I keep this set in a trinket dish my by sink and have had them over a year and they still look like new

And as the weather warms up and it gets lighter earlier I may try to get outside for walks with a WEIGHTED VEST I’ve heard such wonderful things about…and my favorite tennis skirt!
